To meet the growing use of IBM and Macintosh systems in the workplace,Cabletron has developed its comprehensive line of IEEE 802.3-compliantEthernet DNI PC cards. The cards handle IEEE 10BASE-2, 10BASE-5, FOIRL,and 10BASE-T connections -- providing network managers with completemanagement capabilities to the user level, along with a flexible andcost-effective way to connect personal computers to workstations or othersystems on a network.Cabletron's DNI cards support the Simple Network Management Protocol(SNMP) specifications as a reporting device on the network. Operatingunder SNMP allows the cards to be managed by either Remote LANVIEW orSPECTRUM network management systems. From each PC, network managers areable to gather critical receive and transmit statistics which reveal thePC's ability to gain access to the network. In addition to remotemanagement, each card includes a local statistics program with analyzercapabilities.Cabletron offers multiple memory options up to 64 KB of RAM, and theability to operate multiple operating systems simultaneously. All DNIcards incorporate LANVIEW diagnostic indicators which allow for quickdetection of network problems.
